Description:
This is a circular walk based around a section of Offa's Dyke Path (ODP) between World's End Farm and Castell Dinas Bran which overlooks Llangollen.
Limited Parking on grass verges at the top of the steep moorland road about 0.8 miles N of World's End Farm.
Begin by taking the high level route SSE along cliff tops at the edge of Eglwyseg Mountain to Craig Arthur and stay on the clifftop route with marvelous views across the Eglwyseg Valley. After rounding the cliffs of Craigiau Eglwyseg, the ruins of Castell Dinas Bran comes into view, perched on a hill overlooking Llangollen and the Dee Valley. Follow the cliff top route until it drops down to a minor road Panorama Walk on ODP.
Double Back on ODP as it heads past Castell Dinas Bran after a short way, then leave ODP to take the path up to the castle with more splendid views - a good place for a rest.
For a shortened route Return to ODP and follow this lower level route along the bottom of the cliffs. After rounding Craig Arthur take the higher level path which rejoins ODP further up the hill to avoid losing height and follow the road back to the start.
For Main Route Take the steep zigzag path W from the castle then across a field towards Dinbren Hall then head over Bryn Hyfryd to the next valley and along the wooded hillside past the ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey which can be visited with a short diversion. On meeting the minor road at Tan-y-fron turn sharp left then right through the field past the farm signposted Clwydian Way, looking out for where it crosses the Eglwyseg River which is hidden by trees. Continue E to a minor road, turning left along the road for a short way to Plas yn Eglwyseg Farm then go left up the valley through trees then across fields to the small cottage Glyn. Follow the path to the top of the ridge then joining a ridge to the left, eventually reaching the access road to the Wireless Station at the top of the hill. Turn sharp right following the track E until it reaches the minor road just N of the start.
