Description:
A ridge walk along the undulating Clwydian Range following Offa's Dyke Path (ODP) over the Iron Age Hill Fort of Penycloddiau then to Moel Arthur, another Hill Fort (just off ODP). The tracks and paths are generally good and easy to follow, though steep in some places. On a clear day, there are wide ranging views in all directions from the Denbighshire Moors and the mountains of Snowdonia to the west and across to the Midlands of England in the east. Closer by are views of verdant ridges leading down to the Vale of Clwyd. The return route follows part of the Clwydian Way that skirts around the lower slopes to the west before rejoining ODP for the final descent to Bodfari.
To extend the walk: From the car park south of Moel Arthur, continue along Offa's Dyke Path to the summit of Moel Famau (554m), the highest point of the Clwydian Range and return by the same route. This adds 8.7km (5.2 miles) and 315m (1350ft) of ascent.
