The Walks

This web site is best viewed using Internet Explorer version 5 or later.
There are a few minor limitations when using Netscape version 6.

Problems using Internet Explorer Version 6 with Service Pack 2 applied

By default, some of the security features of this version of Internet Explorer may be set to a higher level than before. This means that warnings may be given regarding 'blocked content', 'popups' and 'cookies'. Changes have now been made to remove things that can cause some of these problems. The popup visitor counter has been removed, as well as its associated cookie, and the animation of the boots is now done using an animated gif file rather than Javascript.

However, Javascript is still used to control some of the other features including the enlargement in situ of photographs in the walks and resizing of the animated boots. This can cause the 'blocked content' message to come up in Internet Explorer, to which there are three alternative options:

1) Allow the 'blocked content' once only by clicking on the warning message.

2) Permanently allow active content to run by selecting Tools | Internet Options | Advanced then, under the heading of Security, tick against 'Allow active content to run in files on my computer'

3) Ignore the warning. The features that are thus disabled are not critical to the browsing of the website, as it is now possible to view enlarged photographs in a new window by clicking on the captions underneath the images instead of enlarging them in situ by clicking on the images themselves.
